Sacraments are relevant throughout our lives.
In the Archdiocese of Perth, sacraments are taught and administered within the Parish community. All sacramental candidates, no matter where they attend school, are regarded as Parish candidates.
Parents are the primary educators in the faith. The Church regards parents of paramount importance and seeks their involvement in their child’s sacramental journey. They are supported in this preparation by Catechists in the Parish and teachers in Catholic schools.
The Sacramental program is designed to educate students to understand and participate in the sacraments of the Catholic Church. This ongoing education assists them in strengthening their faith and building their relationship with God.
The Archdiocese of Perth has a formal family-focused, Parish Religious Education Program (PREP).
If you are a Baptised Catholic and have missed receiving your First Reconciliation, First Holy Communion, or Confirmation, please contact our Sacramental Coordinator, to make arrangements.
In the Perth Archdiocese, any child who has reached Year 3 and who has been Baptised is welcome to take part in their next sacramental milestone, First Reconciliation (Year 3).
This may be followed by First Holy Communion (Year 4) and Confirmation (Year 6).
Sacramental Programs for Catholic School students are conducted as part of the CEWA (Catholic Education of WA) school curriculum.
Upon completion of school preparation and some Parish-based classes, students will then receive the sacraments in this parish.
Catholic children who attend Government or Independent schools participate in the St Joseph’s Parish Sacramental Program.
At St Joseph’s, the Sacramental Program covers the fundamentals of Catholic faith in addition to preparing candidates for the Sacraments of Reconciliation, Communion and Confirmation.
